R S P: Robert Silver Pottery

I’ve had a few questions about my stamp mark.

The bottoms of one of my pots is usually stamped with the letters R S P (the P stands for pottery – in case you hadn’t guessed). That’s usually followed by 3 or 4 numbers, representing the month and year in which it was finished – but not fired. (Pots are stamped when leather hard.)

As to whether my system could be copied. Yes, I suppose it could. However, to make it work you’d have to copy my design and my glazes. The glazes are the hardest part. So, anyone who can do all that is probably capable of making their own pots. And, just may be, if they’re that good and go to all that trouble perhaps I’ll get the credit for them anyway.

Just a thought.
